Hi Everyone & Anyone!!
My name is Laura and I'm really interested in getting into the wide wide industry of yachting. I don't have experience yet but we all have to start somewhere right? I'm from Hawaii and doing my research entirely over the internet and over the phone. Since I am unable to see things for myself, I am trying to gather as much as I can to make the very best decision I can.
So far, I am in the process of get information from schools and crew houses....right now I am looking at taking courses at either Maritime Professional Training or the International Yachtmaster Training. I also looked into the American Yacht Institute because I would be entering the industry as a stewardess and they offer a course specifically for that line of work. As for crew houses, I'm still looking because I am interested in perhaps staying a couple months or so...or until I find placement on a yacht.
Everything is up in the air at this point. So if there is anyone who can offer advice from their own personal experience...which school you got the most out of? or which crew house made you feel at home without costing you an arm and a leg in expenses...or even places you can find a part time job while waiting to hear from future employers...anything and everything helpful would be greatly appreciated.
I look forward to hearing about any of your experiences or anything you all might have to say. Thanks for taking your time to read this!
